Community Garden & Blessing Box
In January 2018, the Wood River Public Library purchased the property next to the current building. At the time there was a residential home on this land. In March 2018, the home was torn down leaving the library a prime location to create something new and needed in our community. Library staff felt there was a need to provide fresh produce for the community, as well as a place to learn gardening skills. Thus, the idea for a community garden was formed. The summer of 2019 will mark the first planting season this garden will see.

Blessing Box

What is a blessing box? It’s a place for the library to place surplus produce from the garden. It’s also a location for those in the community to drop off food and hygiene items for those in need. Anyone looking to donate can leave appropriate items in the box at any time. Those in need can stop by and take what they need.
We do ask that you help us keep a clean area by throwing away any trash and not leaving any fast food or open containers in the box. Please refrain from leaving any clothing as well. If you’d like to donate clothing, we can give you non-profit options in the area.
