COVID-19 Updates

Update as of Friday, November 20

In response to Illinois Governor Pritzker's decision to move the state of Illinois to tier 3 mitigations, the Wood River Public Library will be altering it's current services.

As of Monday, November 23 the following changes will be instated:

  • visits will be reduced to 15 minutes

  • browsing will be by appointment only (call us at 254-4832 to make an appointment)

  • Walk-ins to pick up, return, print, fax, copy, or get a notary

The following will continue:

  • computers remain unavailable

  • printing available by emailing documents to print@woodriverlibrary.org

  • masks worn properly required for all patrons over the age of 2

  • curbside pick up will be available upon request

Your WRPL staff values your health and safety and will continue to:

  • wear masks at all times

  • clean/sanitize hands on a regular basis

  • clean high touch surfaces hourly

  • quarantine material for 5 days before being re-shelved or checked out

  • perform symptom self-checks and temperature checks upon arrival each day

We ask that you do the following to keep us and other patrons safe:

  • wear your mask properly at all times (over nose, mouth, and chin)

    • those who cannot or will not wear a mask will be helped curbside

  • sanitize your hands upon entry

  • maintain 6 feet between you and others

  • place items on hold using the SHARE catalog (or via phone call) to streamline your visit

  • come prepared with your documents (fax numbers ready, documents filled out, etc)

  • stay home if you are experiencing any COVID-like symptoms, are awaiting a COVID-19 test, or are told to isolate or quarantine by a health professional

If the governor issues another stay-at-home order, we will go to curbside service only.

Update as of Friday, November 13

We are closely monitoring the COVID-19 numbers both in Wood River & Madison County, and while we are not pulling back services (yet), we want to strongly encourage our patrons to take precautions. Suggestions:

  • Reduce number of visits by waiting for multiple items on hold

  • Utilize curbside pick up

  • Place items on hold rather than browsing

At this time there are still no computers available for patron use. Masks are required at all times

Anyone needing to print can email us at print@woodriverlibrary.org. Visits must be kept to 30 minutes are less.

How to utilize curbside pick up:

  • Place item(s) on hold (via SHARE Catalog or call us 254-4832).

  • Wait for notification form WRPL staff that your item is ready for pick up

  • Call us when you are outside the library

  • Staff will bring your materials to you

While we haven't decided to make and changes, it seems inevitable that we will be forced to reduce what we can offer at some point. Just know that your library staff is working hard to keep you all safe and continue to provide for the community we love.
