COVID-19 Updates

Update on Friday, August 27, 2021

In accordance with the mandate put out by Governor Pritzker, the Wood River Public Library will require masks of all staff and patrons two years and older, regardless of vaccination status.

At this time all computers, tables, and chairs are available for patron use. We will continue to offer curbside services to those unable or unwilling to wear a mask.

Update on Friday, June 11, 2021

Upon reaching Phase 5 of Restore Illinois, the library has lifted its mask mandate for staff and patrons. The following are precautions we are still taking to ensure the safety of all patrons and staff:

  • Computers and seating are limited

  • Cleaning/sanitizing on a regular basis

  • In person gatherings will be held outdoors until the fall.

We will continue to add in seating and extend hours as we get further into Phase 5. We appreciate everyone's patience and cooperation as we navigated the pandemic together. We look forward to getting back to normal.

Update on Friday, May 21, 2021

Following the Regular Meeting of the Board of Trustees, it was decided that masks will continue to be required of all patrons and staff regardless of being vaccinated.

  • Newspapers are back and can be read in the building.

  • Printing, faxing, copying, and notary services are still available (fees may apply)

Update as of Friday, November 13

We are closely monitoring the COVID-19 numbers both in Wood River & Madison County, and while we are not pulling back services (yet), we want to strongly encourage our patrons to take precautions. Suggestions:

  • Reduce number of visits by waiting for multiple items on hold

  • Utilize curbside pick up

  • Place items on hold rather than browsing

At this time there are still no computers available for patron use. Masks are required at all times

Anyone needing to print can email us at print@woodriverlibrary.org. Visits must be kept to 30 minutes are less.

How to utilize curbside pick up:

  • Place item(s) on hold (via SHARE Catalog or call us 254-4832).

  • Wait for notification form WRPL staff that your item is ready for pick up

  • Call us when you are outside the library

  • Staff will bring your materials to you

While we haven't decided to make and changes, it seems inevitable that we will be forced to reduce what we can offer at some point. Just know that your library staff is working hard to keep you all safe and continue to provide for the community we love.
