Reading Colors Your World

2021 Summer Reading Challenge

June 1-July 20, 2021

The theme for 2021 Summer Reading is Reading Colors Your World. The broad motif of "colors" provides a context for exploring humanity, nature, culture, and science as well as developing programming that demonstrates how libraries and reading can expand your world through kindness, growth, and community.

Library patrons young and old will be encouraged to be creative, try new things, explore art, and find beauty in diversity

Read a book and color your world!

Why Summer Reading?

The benefits of summer reading are clear. National research from Dominican University finds that students who participate in public library summer reading programs scored higher on reading achievement tests at the beginning of the next school year than those who did not participate.

Pie in the Face Fundraiser: Battle of the Badges

This year our Pie in the Face Fundraiser is taking on a team approach. Team Wood River Police vs. Team Wood River Fire.

During the month of May, "vote" for who you want to see get a pie in the face by donating money to the library. We have a bucket for each team at the front desk. We also have an online option. Select Miscellaneous Payment and type which team you're sending money to!

This is a fundraiser to help purchase new computers for the children's section.

The Wood River Public Library would like to thank both Wood River Fire Department and Wood River Police Department for participating in this event.

Pies will be thrown on June 5 during the Kick Off Party.
